An Award winning artist, Jakkie paints
with the “Weekend Watercolorists” at the Studio on Green.
She mentors under Jerry Hetrick a professional artist with many credits.
She studied with Vera Dickerson, artist and teacher.
Jakkie enjoyed success in acrylic painting tutoring under Harry Mandel.
Jakkie’s 40 year old son, Brian, who was gifted with his mother’s artistic
talents
and pursued an art major in college, died suddenly in 2005.
Grieving for her son and his family (wife and 3 teenage children),
Jakkie turned to painting to begin the healing process.
“Painting in “our” Studio on Green has been the respite
and reflective healing I needed to move forward for myself and my family”.
She believes there is no greater compliment than when someone appreciates
her art enough to want to hang it in their home!
